APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM
FOR EMERGING ARTISTS AND THEATRE-MAKERS

STC’s apprenticeship program provides hands-on training and mentorship in technical theatre roles. This unique program is designed to expand access for individuals who have historically experienced systemic barriers to opportunities in the arts.
This program encourages applicants from all backgrounds and does not discriminate based on race, color, national origin, sex, disability, age, or economic background in accordance with federal civil rights laws.
Technical Theatre Apprentices will be mentored by skilled artists and receive hands-on experience in a professional environment. One to two apprentices will be selected for each mainstage show.

Scenic Design
Costume Design
Properties Design
REQUIREMENTS FOR APPRENTICESHIP
Apprentices can expect to commit between 1-20 hours per week during their 4 to 7-week Apprenticeship. Time commitments will vary based on the apprentice’s area of interest and can be expected to increase as tech week and opening night approaches.
Apprentices must be well-organized, proactive, detail-oriented, possess strong communication skills (written, verbal and interpersonal), be able to prioritize, and multi-task.
Apprenticeship Dates: 4 to 7-week program based on the Apprentice’s individualized plan. Street Theatre Company will work with Apprentices on establishing a weekly schedule that works with the Apprentice’s classes, work schedule, and/or other obligations.
Compensation is $500 per 4 to 7-week program paid in one lump sum at the completion of the program.
Class credit may be arranged, depending upon school requirements. We will assist Apprentices in meeting the credit requirements of their school, but all arrangements must be made by the Apprentice.
All apprentices must complete a current W9 Tax Form.
Housing and transportation are not provided.
There are no age requirements, and the opportunity is open to all ages. This program is designed to benefit emerging technical theatre artists, and high school seniors, college students, and young adult professionals are encouraged to apply.
Though the apprenticeship aims to provide specific access to emerging theatre-makers from traditionally underrepresented communities, the opportunity is open to all races, ethnicities, identities, and backgrounds.
